Inside the Market: Star Sheet Perforated Sheet (Stainless)

If you work with architectural facades, filtration, or plant ventilation, you’ve probably handled a Perforated Sheet Ss at some point. I’ve toured a few mills in Hebei over the years, and—no surprise—Anping County keeps popping up as the nucleus of this craft. Star Sheet Perforated Sheet comes straight out of Hou Zhuang Industry Zone, Anping County, 053600, Hebei Province, China. The factory vibe there is gritty, yes, but the gear is modern: turret punches humming, coil lines running smooth. It’s a good sign.

What’s trending (and why it matters)

Three noticeable shifts: architects want bolder patterns with controlled open area; OEMs ask for tighter tolerances for airflow and acoustics; and project owners push for third-party certifications. In fact, many customers say they’ll trade a week of lead time for guaranteed flatness and burr-free edges. I guess we’ve all been burned by warped sheets at least once.

Technical snapshot

  • Base grades: SS304, SS316, SS316L per ASTM A240; flatness to ASTM A480.
  • Typical thickness: 0.5–3.0 mm (custom up to ≈6.0 mm on request).
  • Hole types: round, slotted, square, and “star” motifs; pitch as designed.
  • Open area: ≈5–45% (real-world use may vary with edge margin and pitch).
  • Finishes: mill, brushed (180–320 grit), passivated to ASTM A967; optional powder/PVD.
  • Tolerances: hole dia ±0.15 mm (typ.), pitch ±0.20 mm, burr height ≤0.05 mm after deburring.

Product specification (typical)

Parameter Spec (approx.)
Material SS304 / SS316 / SS316L (ASTM A240)
Sheet size 1000×2000, 1250×2500, 1500×3000 mm; custom cut-to-size
Hole diameter 1.0–20 mm (round); special star/slots per drawing
Pitch/Margin As designed; tolerances guided by DIN 24041
Finish Brushed, passivated; optional powder coat (outdoor grade)
Testing Salt spray per ASTM B117 (≥480 h when coated), flatness per A480

Process flow (how it’s made)

Material selection (certified coils) → CNC turret punching or fiber laser for custom motifs → deburring and edge trimming → levelling/flattening → optional brushing and passivation → dimensional QA (hole gauge, pitch, open area) → packing. On the QA wall I saw gauge blocks and pin gauges, which, to be honest, is what you want for repeatability.

Typical service life: 10–20+ years outdoors for Perforated Sheet Ss (316L near marine, 304 inland). Coated finishes stretch that life; uncoated sheets rely on grade and environment.

Applications

  • Architectural facades, sunscreens, ceiling baffles (acoustic plus aesthetics).
  • HVAC/ventilation guards, machine safety panels, EMI airflow covers.
  • Food and pharmaceutical pre-screens (316L preferred), drying trays.
  • Filtration pre-stages, speaker grilles, retail fixtures, signage.

Advantages people actually notice

Flatness and consistent holes—surprisingly, it’s the difference between panels that “hang true” and a punch-list headache. Feedback from a façade contractor in Dubai noted “zero panel rework” on a 1,200 m² install of Perforated Sheet Ss with 25% open area. Another OEM mentioned better airflow consistency (±3%) versus an older supplier—small, but it shows up in fan curves.

Vendor comparison (indicative)

Vendor Certs MOQ Lead time Customization Notes
Star Sheet (Anping) ISO 9001 ≈ 50–100 pcs 10–15 days Star/slot patterns, passivation, color coat Strong on special motifs; tight tolerances
Vendor B (EU) ISO 9001, EN docs Small-batch 2–4 weeks Broad patterns, anodic coatings Premium pricing; excellent traceability
Vendor C (SEA) ISO 9001 ≥ 200 pcs 15–25 days Standard holes mainly Cost-effective on commodity specs

Customization and data that helps

You’ll want to share: CAD/DXF, open area target, edge margin, sheet flatness class, and finish. For coastal projects, go 316/316L and ask for a salt spray benchmark (ASTM B117 ≥480 h when coated). For food/pharma, request passivation cert (ASTM A967) and surface RA if needed. For acoustics, provide frequency band of interest—hole size and pitch matter more than marketing gloss.

Real-world case

A mid-rise office facade in Kuala Lumpur used 2.0 mm 316L, star pattern with ≈28% open area. Panels came leveled to ASTM A480, brushed and passivated. After a year of monsoon cycles, no tea-staining reported. The site PM told me, “installers stopped complaining by day two,” which is probably the highest praise you’ll hear on a windy scaffold.
